At this job, I am a catering server for events ranging from corporate gatherings to wedding ceremonies. There is a unique demand for both teamwork and individual task performance that allows me to both work on my efficiency on my own, as well adapting to efficiently dividing tasks as a team. With events, there is more of an emphasis on attention to detail and the aesthetics of the work being done. This makes it more challenging to complete tasks quickly, but it is a welcome challenge. This was my first job and I continued to work for the company throughout high school. I learned basic customer service skills, and maintained the hospitality standard that Chick-fil-A encourages for their Front of House employees. In addition to this, I learned to be flexible and adaptable, learning as many positions in both Front and Back of House in order to help wherever necessary during busy rushes. I enjoyed the fast-paced environment of fast food, and the challenge of moving efficiently while maintaining accuracy. At our store, we aimed to decrease the drive-thru and overall guest waiting times while keeping a high order accuracy score.
Once I enrolled in college, I did return over a few breaks because I genuinely enjoyed the job and the environment. In 2024, I was awarded the Chick-fil-A Future Scholars Award.
This was the first catering-related job I took up during high school. From this, I really fell in love with the operations and logistics behind events. I also was able to build fundamental skills that fast food was not able to provide for me, like table-side service, organized plate delivery, and butlering.
